That's about it for next week here at Rite Aid, check out an earlier post for some CVS deals for next week!

Let's dabble in CVS....

So lately, Rite Aid hasn't been having so many fantastic deals.  The free deodorant was nice last week (I now have enough deodorant for a year or more), and the cheap paper towels from this week was good too... but I just one or two good items a week is not enough to keep me interested.  The week of the 9th is going to be a good week (watch this space!) but there's just not much until then.

I ventured over to a cvs website, where I discovered they have plenty of great deals going on next week that I thought about checking out.  If you're not familiar with CVS, they're reward program is called Extra Care Bucks (which is apparently exactly like an UP Reward, except they are linked to your card and cannot be interchanged).
Thus ECB stands for Extra Care Buck from here on out.

Week of 9/25
Bausch & Lomb ReNu sensitive 12 oz $8.99 Get $7 ECB Limit 1
$2 off Renu Sensitive (With Registration)
8.99 - $2 coupon = $6.99 get $7 ECB

Final Price : Free After ECB

Thermacare Lower Back and Hip heat wrap 1 ct $3.79 Get $3.79 ECB Limit 1
Final Price : Free After ECB!

Since I have absolutely no ECBs to start with, here's what I'm thinking about doing to shrink my Out Of Pocket expense...
Transaction 1:
2 Excedrin 8 Ct = 1.98
Pay $1.98 get $1.98 ECB back

Transaction 2 :
1 Thermacare = 3.79

Rite Aid 9/13/11 - 96% Savings!

This was a small, quick trip to Rite Aid after I found some peelie coupons (coupons stuck to a product) on some Irish Spring soap at Big Lots for $1 off any Irish Spring deodorant.  Since Big Lots doesn't take coupons, we are suppose to remove all attached coupons.  That's exactly what I did with great pleasure.

This week at Rite Aid, the Irish Spring deodorant is $2.99, get a $2 UP reward back.  Combining my current UP Rewards with my new found coupons at Big Lots, this makes the item completely free, with an additional penny each!
The gum was also on sale for 99 cents.  I had a 50 cent off Rite Aid Video Value coupon, plus the three cents overage from deodorants.  So the transaction went as follows:
3 Deodorants at 2.99 each = $8.97
1 Gum at .99 each = .99
Total = $9.96
Used $6 in UP Rewards from previous transaction = 3.96 remaining
Used 3 $1 Irish Spring Deodorant Coupons from soap at Big Lots = .96 remaining
Used .50 Rite Aid Video Value coupon for gum. = 46 cent total.
I received $6 in UP rewards back for buying three deodorants ($2 each deodorant)

A good, quick trip!  Anyone else remember that convenient store in Monticello that was called Quick Trip?  It's a church now, I believe!

Don't Stores Lose Money When YOU Shop? Uhh, no.

The following was taken from www.couponshoppingwithtreasure.com ... when I first started couponing, this was one of the first sites I came to.  Her videos and articles really helped educate me in what I was about to do.  I chose to put this on my blog because people are constantly harassing me about getting stuff for free and how it hurts the store.  They couldn't be further from the truth...

You get all that for free?  Wow I'm surprised Rite Aid hasn't went out of business from you!  Don't they lose money?
Let me answer that question for you:
NO Stores DO NOT lose money when you shop with coupons!
In fact quite the opposite. You'll be happy to know that the store doesn't lose a dime when you use coupons. In fact, the store makes more money when you use coupons to save.

If you read the fine print on a coupon it says "Manufacturer will reimburse retailer the face value of this coupon plus $0.08 cents handling fee".

So not only are they getting the full face value of the coupon, they are getting there 8 cents worth too!

Manufacturers want you to try their product.

They work hard marketing a brand. They are trying to build product awareness and brand loyalty. Manufacturers spend millions of dollars annually trying to get consumers to buy, and continue buying their products. They introduce new products with a coupon to get you hooked. In addition, coupons in newspapers and magazines double as print advertisements. Even if you do not actually clip and use the coupon, you see the advertisement that contains the coupon, which helps build brand and product awareness. It is all part of a larger business plan.

About 6% of the population uses coupons..really...that's it! So that means that of the hundreds of thousands of inserts printed and distributed each week, about 94% of them get thrown in the trash! Imagine that, throwing money away!  Heaven help me I could faint.

When you compare the amount of money manufacturers spend on marketing their new brand and the amount of consumers that actually use coupons, you will see that they are not losing money.
Manufacturers will not stop issuing coupons just because we get products for free by using the coupons.
Knowing why a manufacturer issues a coupon will make it easier to agree with that statement. If you used their coupon, it means you bought their product. If you bought it, you might like it and tell your friends, and continue buying it yourself.

GOOD DEAL ALERT! Bounty Basic for 13 Cents!

Rite Now, at most Rite Aid stores, the Bounty Basic paper towels are currently ringing up for 64 cents each.  This is an unadvertised deal, so don't look for the sale tag.  Just ask a cashier to price check it to make sure first.

In last week's sunday paper, you MAY have received a coupon for $1 off 2 bounty paper towels.  Use this coupon in conjunction with this sale, and they will be only 13 cents each! THIRTEEN CENTS for a cheap-ass roll of paper towels, but a roll of paper towels none-the-less.  I have ordered 20 coupons, which means I'll get 40 rolls of these (pending they still have stock) for $5.20.  You can't get a 6 pack of any brand paper towels for $5.20!  Even the Big Lots brand is $7 for a 6 pack!  So I'll take 40 for $5.20, thank you!

Rite Aid Trip 3/08/11 - $63 for $7

I had a request to break it down, so here's my best shot at it.  I'm really not that great at explaining it, but I'm going to try.

This week at Rite Aid.... if you buy $30 worth of select proctor and gamble products (as pictured in their AD), you'll receive a $10 UP reward back on your receipt.
In the Sunday Coupons from the 22nd of May, there was a coupon for Gillette Deodorant, Buy 1 Get 1 Free, as well as a $2 off Gillette Body Wash coupon.
I had 6 copies of each (6 is always the minimum amount of newspapers to buy).  Rite Aid's new coupon policy limits the use of coupons to 4 Like Coupons per transaction, so in each transaction I used 3 of each.

12 Gillette Deodorants
6 Gillette Body Washes
Two Transactions done as follows...

Transaction 1:
3 Body Washes @ 3.50 Each = 10.50
6 Deodorants @ 3.50 Each = 21
Total : 31.50 (Enough to receive $10 UP Reward)
Used $3 off $15 = $28.50
Used 3 $2 off Gillette Body Wash = $22.50
Used 3 Buy 1 Get 1 Free Deodorant = $12.00
Used $10 UP From Previous Purchase = $2.00
Total : $2.00....Received $10 UP for buying $30 worth of P&G Products

Rinse and Repeat (except for the $3 off 15 coupon)!  Use the $10 up from transaction 1 on transaction 2, and receive another $10 UP!  I did use a different wellness card on the second transaction, as there is a limit of 1 $10 UP reward per "household".

I have 8 "Buy 1 Old Spice Deodorant, Get Old Spice Bodywahs Free" coupons coming, as well as 8 "Buy 1 Get 1 Free Gillette Body Wash" and 4 "$1 off Gillette Deodorant" even though I've taken about all the deodorants that were left, but I'm sure I'll be able to work something out.  There were some Old Spice deodorants that had a bonus Body Spray included for free, which will make it even more awesome!

Rolling UP Rewards... Why I Buy Certain Items

A lot of the time, I do buy items that I probably don't need or even really WANT.  However, if I have the right coupons and the product gives back a good $ UP Reward, then I'll buy it to "roll" my  UP Rewards.

When you buy certain items, or a certain amount of items, you'll receive an UP Reward on your receipt, which is like a $$ off you next purchase of $$ of more coupon.  You can use that to buy something else that will produce another UP Reward.

I had $10 of UPs that were expiring yesterday, so I had to go buy SOMETHING and I didn't really have much of a plan.  I knew the Renpure was FREE after UP Rewards, but the free items are generally gone by Sunday at noon.  However, they still had about 10 left on the shelf, so I bought some.  They were 4.99, get a $4.99 UP reward back.   So I bought some with my expiring UPS, so I could get the same amount of UPs back, with a longer expiration date.  Now I'll have some to use on Sunday for my razors, deodorant, and body wash!

Rite Aid 6/3/11 - After two weeks off, I'm back! 85 Cents!

I HAD to go, because my $10 worth of UP Rewards were expiring that day.

Transaction 1:
Speed Stick - $2.99, Get $2 UP back.
Used $.75 off Speed Stick
Used $2 UP

Rite Aid List 5/15

First order of business, I REACHED SILVER STATUS at Rite Aid.  This is 10% off general merchandise purchases (unless the sale price is better, whichever is lower)... so some transactions might actually be cheaper!  Also, that's 10% off their milk which is only $2.99.. so now only $2.70 for a gallon of milk!

So here's the deals I plan on getting on the 15th... I've got quite a few $3 off $15 survey coupons to use that expire on the 15th, so I'll be there at 8AM ready to get my coupon on!

  Transaction 1 -
Scott Toilet Paper 12PK - $7.94
Scott Toilet Paper 12PK - $7.94
Total : $15.88
Use $3 off $15 Survey Coupon
Use 2 $1 off Scott TP Coupon
Use 2 $1 VV Coupons
Total : $8.88 for 24 Rolls of Scott Toilet Paper.  Not free, but that's only 37 cents a roll, which is what I paid for my 36 rolls of cottonelle.

Transaction 2 -
4 Bottles of Purex 50oz Laundry Detergent - $1.97 each
4 Glade Carpet Deodorizer - $2 each (Get $2 UP back from buying 4)
Total - $15.88
Use $3 off $15
Use 4 $1 off Purex Detergent
Use 4 $.50 off Glade Carpet Deo
Use $2 UP
Total - $4.88

That's all I've got for now, I think I'll go get some prices for some of the buy one get one free items on thursday, so I'll have a better idea, if it will be a good deal or not.
