That's about it for next week here at Rite Aid, check out an earlier post for some CVS deals for next week!

Let's dabble in CVS....

So lately, Rite Aid hasn't been having so many fantastic deals.  The free deodorant was nice last week (I now have enough deodorant for a year or more), and the cheap paper towels from this week was good too... but I just one or two good items a week is not enough to keep me interested.  The week of the 9th is going to be a good week (watch this space!) but there's just not much until then.

I ventured over to a cvs website, where I discovered they have plenty of great deals going on next week that I thought about checking out.  If you're not familiar with CVS, they're reward program is called Extra Care Bucks (which is apparently exactly like an UP Reward, except they are linked to your card and cannot be interchanged).
Thus ECB stands for Extra Care Buck from here on out.

Week of 9/25
Bausch & Lomb ReNu sensitive 12 oz $8.99 Get $7 ECB Limit 1
$2 off Renu Sensitive (With Registration)
8.99 - $2 coupon = $6.99 get $7 ECB

Final Price : Free After ECB

Thermacare Lower Back and Hip heat wrap 1 ct $3.79 Get $3.79 ECB Limit 1
Final Price : Free After ECB!

Since I have absolutely no ECBs to start with, here's what I'm thinking about doing to shrink my Out Of Pocket expense...
Transaction 1:
2 Excedrin 8 Ct = 1.98
Pay $1.98 get $1.98 ECB back

Transaction 2 :
1 Thermacare = 3.79
Use $1.98 ECB
Pay $1.81 get $3.79 ECB

Transaction 3 :
1 Renu Sensitive @ 8.99

Rite Aid 9/13/11 - 96% Savings!

This was a small, quick trip to Rite Aid after I found some peelie coupons (coupons stuck to a product) on some Irish Spring soap at Big Lots for $1 off any Irish Spring deodorant.  Since Big Lots doesn't take coupons, we are suppose to remove all attached coupons.  That's exactly what I did with great pleasure.

This week at Rite Aid, the Irish Spring deodorant is $2.99, get a $2 UP reward back.  Combining my current UP Rewards with my new found coupons at Big Lots, this makes the item completely free, with an additional penny each!
The gum was also on sale for 99 cents.  I had a 50 cent off Rite Aid Video Value coupon, plus the three cents overage from deodorants.  So the transaction went as follows:
3 Deodorants at 2.99 each = $8.97
1 Gum at .99 each = .99
Total = $9.96
Used $6 in UP Rewards from previous transaction = 3.96 remaining
Used 3 $1 Irish Spring Deodorant Coupons from soap at Big Lots = .96 remaining
Used .50 Rite Aid Video Value coupon for gum. = 46 cent total.
I received $6 in UP rewards back for buying three deodorants ($2 each deodorant)

A good, quick trip!  Anyone else remember that convenient store in Monticello that was called Quick Trip?  It's a church now, I believe!

HOT New Finish Coupons - Wal-Mart Scenario!

$.50 off 1 Jet Dry Rinse Agent (Sign Up Required)

If you don't want to deal with the whole Rite Aid thing that I do, here's what you can do at Wal-Mart.

Finish Quantum 12Ct = $2.97
$1.97 Final Cost after Coupon!

Jet Dry = $2.74
$2.04 after Coupon

If you do wish to go with Rite Aid, they often put their Finish Products on sale for Half Off.

Currently Jet Dry is $4.79.  Half off would be $2.40, $1.90 with coupon.

I don't know a price for the quantum tablets right off hand, however with the 50% off sale, plus the $1 coupon, PLUS the $1 off 10ct Quantum Tablets VIDEO VALUE COUPON would make for an excellent deal!  Just keep your eyes peeled over at www.iheartriteaid.com for their upcoming deals!

Don't Stores Lose Money When YOU Shop? Uhh, no.

The following was taken from www.couponshoppingwithtreasure.com ... when I first started couponing, this was one of the first sites I came to.  Her videos and articles really helped educate me in what I was about to do.  I chose to put this on my blog because people are constantly harassing me about getting stuff for free and how it hurts the store.  They couldn't be further from the truth...

You get all that for free?  Wow I'm surprised Rite Aid hasn't went out of business from you!  Don't they lose money?
Let me answer that question for you:
NO Stores DO NOT lose money when you shop with coupons!
In fact quite the opposite. You'll be happy to know that the store doesn't lose a dime when you use coupons. In fact, the store makes more money when you use coupons to save.

If you read the fine print on a coupon it says "Manufacturer will reimburse retailer the face value of this coupon plus $0.08 cents handling fee".

So not only are they getting the full face value of the coupon, they are getting there 8 cents worth too!

Manufacturers want you to try their product.

They work hard marketing a brand. They are trying to build product awareness and brand loyalty. Manufacturers spend millions of dollars annually trying to get consumers to buy, and continue buying their products. They introduce new products with a coupon to get you hooked. In addition, coupons in newspapers and magazines double as print advertisements. Even if you do not actually clip and use the coupon, you see the advertisement that contains the coupon, which helps build brand and product awareness. It is all part of a larger business plan.

About 6% of the population uses coupons..really...that's it! So that means that of the hundreds of thousands of inserts printed and distributed each week, about 94% of them get thrown in the trash! Imagine that, throwing money away!  Heaven help me I could faint.

When you compare the amount of money manufacturers spend on marketing their new brand and the amount of consumers that actually use coupons, you will see that they are not losing money.
Manufacturers will not stop issuing coupons just because we get products for free by using the coupons.
Knowing why a manufacturer issues a coupon will make it easier to agree with that statement. If you used their coupon, it means you bought their product. If you bought it, you might like it and tell your friends, and continue buying it yourself.
